Yeah, I’m skipping the Islanders game. Don’t worry, I have a blog post forthcoming on that game! Chronological order? What’s that?

I guess you could say that I called this game. Literally.

You had to know the Canucks were looking to avenge a rather ugly loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Roberto Luongo was overdue for a shutout and the Sedins/Burrows couldn’t be held off the scoresheet forever. Going up against a team that was short a few men (Nathan Horton was out due to injury and Dominic Moore had just been traded to Montreal) and really only had Tomas Vokoun going for them and you sort of figured that the Canucks had to win this game.

Another horribly late postscript. I apologize. My move from Toronto to Calgary has drained the hell out of me so I’m just getting things sorted out. I basically passed out after the game last night and had to run around doing errands today, hence the superlate post. I’m hoping things will be totally sorted come Saturday. We’ll see…

vishnevskiy-own-goal

The story: Russian player Ivan Vishnevskiy inadvertently scores on his own net after the Dallas Stars had pulled the goalie for an extra attacker.

Reminds me of Shane O’Brien’s own goal during a delayed penalty last season. Yes, Obie’s goal Sunday night wasn’t his first in a Canuck uniform during the regular season…it was just the first that counted for the Canucks.

Canucks ‘Blue’ Chance At Eighth Seed In Ugly Affair

Fans in Vancouver will undoubtedly be angry at Mike Leggo and the on-ice officiating in tonight’s game against the St. Louis Blues, who defeated them 3-1 on game 6 of their 8 game homestand. I am of course referring to the poor decision against Alex Burrows that would’ve put the Canucks within one goal of the Blues midway through the third period. Or maybe it was the lack of a double minor against Burrows after he was decked in the mouth and required stitches. Or the fact that the referees were calling anything and everything in the first and then inexplicably decided to put their whistles away for the rest of the game.

I’m tardy, I know. I apologise. I’ll try to make this quick and dirty.

The Nashville game resulted in another loss for a Canucks team who has been inconsistent and got burned on the powerplay. The team also looked worn out (!) and tired out there, which again makes me worried about the upcoming Road Trip From Hell, Pt 1 and Pt 2.  Annoyingly, Nashville games continue to be ones that punish our defensemen (remember Bieksa’s laceration and Salo getting his nose broken in the same night?) as Alex Edler is out for a couple of weeks with an arm injury. What makes this all the more frustrating is that Edler was looking to be turning things around and has been one of our more consistent offensive contributers from the backend, alongside Ehrhoff.

This site is trash! There, I just saved you from making a hilarious joke. I like to blog about hockey, mostly the Canucks. Sometimes I'll write about movies, video games or something else. I am a nerd living in Calgary. See the About page if you want more details!
